Research Interests
My research interests lie in the application of organometallic chemistry to problem in homogeneous catalysis. Designing new catalysts to form C-B and C-C bond receiving more attention, because of their applications in natural products, agriculture, pharmaceutical and industrial chemistry ... etc.
Metal Catalysed Reactions of Boron Reagent
We are developing new catalyst system for diboration of alkenes and borylation of arenes (Conversion of alkenes and arenes to vinylboronates and arylboronates); both of these intermediates are useful in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction to form C-C bonds.
N-Heterocyclic Carbenes
Carbene ligands are increasingly important as ligands for transition metals centered catalysts. Carbene ligands have found practical applications in olefin chemistry for metathesis, hydrogenation and hydroamination…etc. It has showed also highly reactivity in various coupling reactions such as Heck, Suzuki-Miyaura and still coupling reactions. Bidentate carbene ligands are also important but appear to be less effective for coupling reactions and it decomposed at high temperature (especially chloroarenes). From this point, we are developing new bidentate carbene ligands by mixing two different types of ligands to compromise the stability and the efficiency. This will lead to new carbene ligands.
